Junior Beginners Club Night

Our junior training sessions for young athletes is a mixed age group from 8 years to 14 and is on a Wednesday evening at the English Institute of Sport on Coleridge Road, Sheffield, 6.45pm-8.15pm. We meet by the track/tunnel around 6.35pm where we do a quick register and meet up with the coaches.

This is a fun session to give the children a taste for all events both track and field. A typical session may include some of the following: sprints, middle distance, long jump, high jump, indoor foam javlin and shot put.

All events are dependent on track, field and coach availability.

If your child does decide that he/she would like to concentrate on a specific discipline, then we can help signpost to specialist coaches.

If junior athletes wish to start competing for the club please let one of the coaches know. There are plenty of opportunities to take part in competitions in the City, region and nationally should you wish to. There is no expectation or pressure from the club to compete, but the opportunity is available. We do not charge for coaching but the venue does make a charge for using the track. You must purchase a wristband at reception to access the track. (Price with life card £2.65, annual lifecard £3)

If you child enjoys the sessions and to compete he/she will need to join the club. Membership prices vary depending on age and include registration with England Athletics without which he/she will not be eligible to compete. Membership prices available on request.
